Hastings & St Leonards Cycling Club's Dan Henchy had a great start to his road race season taking 12th place in a 2nd / 3rd category race on Friday evening. Conditions were fine for the first of the Hove Park series on a closed off road circuit. Chris Watson was on top form in the 4th category race sprinting at the finish to take 4th place with Richard Pettit performing well on his debut as he came in 19th.

The club holds its first Wednesday evening time trial this week on the Broad Oak Brede circuit, meeting at 6.30pm just north of the Broad Oak crossroads for first rider off at 7.00pm. I saw Tim, Chris C, Ian H's names there.

Sports Report Monday 6 April 2009‏

New Hastings & St Leonards Cycling Club pairing of Dan Henchy and Chris Chapman did a superb sub hour ride of 59.02 in Sunday's 24 mile East Sussex Cycling Association 24 mile team time trial based at Laughton. Chapman has been training hard over the winter after his comeback season to the sport and was able to do his fair share of the work on the front which shows how well his preparation for the season has gone. Established pairing of David Earl and Jamie Beale were just seconds behind in 59.11 with a near two minute improvement of their previous best time. Greg Blackewll did the lions share of the work for a time of 1.10.01 riding with Chris Parker. Photos of all the teams are available from http://www.mikeanton.com/cycling.html

Sports Report Monday 23 March 2009

Ivan Johson (41.26) was the leading Hastings & St Leonards Cycling Club rider in last Sunday's East Sussex Cycling Association Hard Riders time trial taking an excellent 6th place. Winner of the event with a course record (36.03) and hill climb prime record (2.53) was In Gear's Pete Tadros from Pett. Although Dan Henchy (42.36), David Earl (42.57), Chris Watson (43.18) and Jamie Beale (43.40) made it six riders in the top 20 the club were unable to retain the prize for the best team of three riders which went to In Gear. Chris Watson was the quickest of the team up Agony Hill equalling Ivan Johnson's club record of 3.25. With Chris Chapman (44.34), Ian Hendry (46.22) and Jon Molton (46.25) also getting points for being in the top 30 Hastings take a clear lead in the club points competition with 114 ahead of Lewes Wanderers on 86 and Eastbourne Rovers on 66. Welcome!

Welcome to the new blog! I felt it was important to have some sort of presence on the web so this provides at the very least a short term solution. I have to admit I shamefully stole the idea off the Lewes Wanderers. Their blog was fairly well used by their members last year, the idea being that any member who wants to contribute will be given the login details and they can post to their heart's content. Suitable content would include race reports and results, details of upcoming rides or anything else you feel may be of interest. I also think photos can be uploaded which would be good. The more people who contribute the more successful this can be and it takes the weight off any one person being responsible for the upkeep.
