Ninfield Time Trial - 30 May
A fantastic fast evening last night with a field of 20 riders again and Pete Tadros breaks his own Ninfield course record by one second!
A special mention for 15 year old Joe Kingsman who has only recently bought a time trial bike (he has a mountain bike too but not a road bike) and did not know the course but turned up and put in a great time of 43.36.
Some of the times available immediately after the finish have been adjusted after checking the timekeepers records, individuals are being contacted to triple check the revised times are OK - but Pete's record was not in question, after all I believe he broke his own record on the Steyening 10 course Saturday morning. He was also gracious in saying that his 29 second win over the French "semi-pro" rider on the course last year (Nic Baldo who wore the yellow jersey for a while in the recent Ras in Ireland) would partly be down to local knowledge - he has been riding the course for some thirteen or so years and knows every corner, rise and pot hole and the exact line to take for the fastest ride.
Please can riders turn up to sign on at 6.30pm (7.00pm for the HRH classics and Pevensey) and make sure their numbers are visible. For TTs numbers are fixed covering the bum as a safety feature so cars behind can see the fluorescent number and time keepers can read it as you cross the finish line. If you put your number high on the back like a runner then only the helicopters can read the number from above and our budget does not stretch to such coverage !!!!
We also need to keep off the road after the finish. Standing in the drive on the left is OK but we are thinking of changing the congregation to be the bus stop opposite the post office when we come back for the second round of events at Ninfield after the HRH classics and Pevensey 10s. Please let me know what you think.
