Early Bird 9 June- Baxter Bounces Back

Early Bird 9 June- Baxter Bounces back
A good turnout for the early bird ride. Much to my surprise Colin was there at the start but even more surprising Paul Baxter met up with us half way down Battery Hill. We have not seen Paul for several months; he has being having another one of his layoffs! There was still some strong wind left over from the storms on Friday but compared to what we endured in France it felt like nothing (plenty of hedgerows to shield us). This was a new route: the ‘Guesting Double’ and it contained quite a few hills. Dave E, Doug, Steve D and Derek split from the route before Doleham hill. This left just me, Colin, Duncan and Paul to go up it. Colin could not engage his lowest gear but being in good form flew up it anyway while Paul B performed surprisingly well for someone who has had such a long layoff and beat me up it although I got my own back on peter James lane bringing us part way up battery Hill.
